Knister Bike Mount for the Knister Grill

The bike mount was designed specifically for the Knister Grill to make it easier to transport to your barbecue or picnic spot. No more tedious carrying or lugging around! Installation takes just a few seconds—all you need to do is screw the bike mount and the spacer together. Then, the bike mount can be easily attached to the bike handlebars. The grill is then hung on top. If you don’t need it, it can be easily removed again.

Will the mount fit my handlebars?

Yes – our patented bike mount fits most bike handlebars. Handlebars have different tube diameters and different angles of inclination. On road bikes, for example, the angle of inclination is 90° – meaning the stem is completely horizontal. On women’s bikes or Dutch bikes, for example, the stem is completely vertical. You can set the correct angle using the adjustable spacer.
Tube diameters of up to 45 mm are supported.
Handlebars with standard e-bike displays are supported.
Handlebars with permanently mounted mounts (e.g., klickfix®) are supported. Our bike mount is wider than mounts from other manufacturers. And the mount for the grill is positioned significantly further forward.

How do I adjust the mount?

Adjustment is a one-time process and requires no tools. Insert the spacer (stainless steel pin) into one of the 4 holes. This ensures that the grill doesn’t hang crooked and is aligned with your tilt angle. For 90% of handlebars, one of the middle holes works well. If you have a vertical handlebar (e.g., Dutch bike), use one of the upper holes. If you have a horizontal handlebar (e.g., road bike), use the bottom hole.

Will it scratch my handlebars?

No. All parts of the bike mount that could come into contact with your handlebars are wrapped in a leather-rubber protective cover.

What is the riding experience like?
Does it rattle?

The riding experience is pretty much the same as when you ride with a front bike basket (e.g., on a women’s bike). Suddenly you have a few kilograms of weight at the front of the handlebars—it takes about 1–2 minutes to get used to that. But you’ll get used to it pretty quickly. After all, there are already countless other products that you can strap to your bike handlebars.

The grill is made of metal and actually acts like a sound box. So if you just put loose cutlery inside the body, it’s naturally going to rattle. We therefore recommend transporting charcoal, sausage packages, and the like in the grill—these are great sound dampeners, and then nothing rattles at all. To further secure the grill grate, you can use the small wing screw to prevent the grate from “popping out.”

Is the mount permanently attached to the handlebars? What about theft?

No, the mount isn’t permanently attached to the handlebars. It’s simply “wrapped around the handlebars” and stabilizes itself through the weight of the grill. Neither the grill nor the mount is screwed to the handlebars in any way. So if you’re worried about thieves, it’s best to take the grill and the mount inside with you.

Which bikes is it not compatible with? 

Occasionally, there are very specific handlebars that we can’t accommodate. With extremely narrow road bike or bullhorn handlebars, the grill might not fit at all (the grill is about 30 cm wide without wooden handles, and about 42 cm wide with them)—in this case, the wooden handles might rest on top of the handlebars. If you have a very large, horizontal, permanently mounted display at the front of the handlebars, it becomes problematic. It’s particularly critical with BMX bikes or handlebars that have no stem at all. Extremely wide carbon triathlon handlebars also won’t work. In general, however, we advise against attaching the grill to a carbon handlebar.
