Camping & Outdoor

A camping trip or an outdoor adventure in the mountains. More and more people are enjoying this seemingly “new way” of spending a few wonderful days—or even weeks—in nature. Yet this type of vacation has been around for decades. Back then, people simply went camping. On the one hand, because it was still an affordable way to spend a nice summer vacation with the kids. On the other hand, because traveling abroad, as we know it today, simply wasn’t as easy back then. Fewer families owned cars, the roads weren’t highways but simple country roads, and where you can now drive through a long tunnel, people used to have to endure very long journeys over the mountains. Only the “wealthy” could board a plane back then to reach their desired vacation destination.

Today, the image and status of camping have completely changed. A camping vacation no longer falls into the “cheap” category, but instead evokes wonderful images and dreams of adventure, freedom, a connection to nature, and shared family activities—ideally a mix of entertainment, adventure, and fun. When the kids fall into their sleeping bags or beds in the RV in the evening, exhausted but smiling, you know you’ve done everything right that day.

There are many different types of camping vacations and outdoor activities. We humans are individualists and want to live this out and, ideally, pass it on to our children. No matter what kind of shared experiences you choose, we’re happy to help you find the right gear for camping or your outdoor trip. Embrace your freedom—we have the right gear for it.

Here you’ll find everything related to outdoor gear, from athletic and professional equipment to smaller items for urban nomads, as well as tools and essentials for camping beginners who might be trying it for the first time.

We offer everything from backpacks and bags to tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads, as well as cooking utensils for your outdoor kitchen.

When hiking, you should bring everything you might possibly need. For shorter trips, you’ll likely need less. Often, a lightweight backpack is enough for some provisions, a rain jacket, a pocket knife, a good water bottle, and perhaps a flashlight if it gets dark early in the evening, etc. For longer trips, perhaps planned over several days, the situation is quite different. In addition to the items mentioned above, you should also consider things like a compass, GPS device, first-aid kit, repair kit, small cooking set, etc. This way, you’ll be self-sufficient and can truly enjoy nature as it is meant to be experienced.

For multi-day trips, a high-quality sleeping bag is a must. A cozy mountain hut is great, but it’s even better in your own sleeping bag. The right camping lantern always provides enough light exactly where you don’t want to be sitting in the dark.

If you’re the type who likes to combine adventure with sports, then you should check out the sections on bicycles, climbing gear, water sports, and winter gear to get inspired.

Packing List for Your Camping Vacation

You’d like to plan and experience your vacation your own way. We’ll help you put together your own packing list. We’ll give you tips and suggestions to inspire you to find the right gear for your specific plans.

You’ll see that our packing list is very detailed. We try to think of everything, but even we can’t cover every possibility. It’s best to simply choose what fits your plans.

The right camping clothing

Since you’ll be spending most of your time outdoors—whether hiking, climbing, biking, or traveling in a camper—you should place a high priority on the right clothing. It must not only be comfortable but also high-quality, durable, and provide the best possible protection against wind, cold, and rain. The joy of being in nature usually fades very quickly once you’re soaked and start to feel cold. “There’s almost no such thing as bad weather, just a lot of bad clothing.”

We do not carry clothing in our shop, but we would still like to bring this to your attention.

Tip: Always make sure to get plenty of information online or at a bookstore about the area you plan to visit so you don’t run into any unpleasant surprises.
